Today was a pretty “tiring” day, first off I reported for work for the first time in 3 months, lack of sleep and all I survived the new hire orientation, then after that I was welcomed by heavy rains outside the office that delayed my visit to my aunt who happens to be in the hospital at that time (she’s out now). So I was wet, good thing I was wearing a dry fit shirt, that at least helped me because my torso wasn’t drenched by the cold rains of Muntinlupa. Anyway I got home at around 1030pm and was surprised that a friend told me that the Lakers have received Orlando on a trade, which hopefully gets approved by the NBA, I’m so tired of all those Dwight Howard saga him being a primadonna, holding the Orlando Magics Franchise “hostage”. Dwight by the way wasn’t the first Magic big man who transferred to the Lakers, more than a decade ago Shaquille O’neal signed a contract with the Lakers leaving the Magics to dust, since then the Magics didn’t have a significant team, until the arrival of Dwight Howard, like Shaq in 1993, Howard led the Magics to an NBA Finals appearance loosing to the Lakers. Shaq’s Magic on the other hand lost to the defending champions the Houston Rockets. Fans are now clamoring, the Lakers are now one of the favorites to win the NBA title if the trade pushes through, Howard joins Kobe Bryant, Paul Gasol, Metta World Peace, and recently signed Steve Nash and Antoine Jamison to the fold.
Here’s the detail of the said trade as reported by Bleacher Report and ESPN.
A source with direct knowledge of the talks told ESPN.com’s Marc Stein the Lakers will receive Howard, the Denver Nuggets will acquire Andre Iguodala, the 76ers will receiveAndrew Bynum and Jason Richardson, and the Magic will get Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Nikola Vucevic and one protected future first-round pick from each of the other three teams.
Obviously the Magics will start rebuilding with some draft picks, a young guy in Nikola Vucevic and veterans like shooter Aaron Afflalo and journeyman Al Harrington, the good thing that came out of this trade is they got rid of Jason Richardson’s “fat” contract and they can finally start rebuilding AGAIN.
What I want to see is how Andre Igoudala could impact the balance attack of the Denver Nuggets led by Italian hot shot Danilo Gallinari and former UNC Tar Heel Ty Lawson, Igoudala will definitely be an asset to George Karl, he will definitely help this team improve this coming season.
The Laker’s on the other hand well…. Take a look..
Though the trade has not been finalized yet as of the moment, this team on paper can be better than the Spurs or the Thunder, its a matter of how they gel as a team.
I just wish the Bulls can make another key Free Agent. Oh well we have Nazr Mohammed, Marco Belleneli, Nate Robinson and Chicago fan favorite Kirk Hinrich. GO BULLS!
